Retired US couple needs to be outside Schengen for the months of November and December. Looking for recommendations as we enjoy nature explores and living quietly using public transport. Thanks!

Not sure what you are asking? G Britain is outside the zone. Besides, earlier you ask a similar question in the Portugal section and received many good responses that covered the issue pretty well. What more are you looking for?

Are you looking for different information than you got in the previous question? If you are in Scotland in October will you be tired of the British Isles?
All or many of the non-Schengen countries were noted in all the responses to the previous question. Did you want somewhere even more different? Africa? Israel?

How about Croatia and/or Turkey?
Also anything in north Africa, Morocco might be a nice visit.

The U.K. would be a good choice, as it has excellent public transport (rail or Coach). However the weather in November and December may not be "ideal".
Croatia would also be good, but public transit there is more challenging. Rail lines end at Split, so you'd have to use Buses in some cases. However the weather should be better (not sure as I've never been there at that time of year). You may have to use a bit more caution with "nature explores" in Croatia, as there are still land mines in some areas.
