With the horrible fires and weather in Australia the last couple days, I just wanted to let all our friends and fellow posters from Down Under know that we are thinking of them and hope they and their families are safe.
I'd like to add my thoughts and concern for our fellow posters from Australia!
I have been thinking of the Aussie posters too, and trust they are all safe and well.
I read a story tonight that one hospital treating severely burned has run out of morphine. My prayers are with them.
A friend in Melbourne said the death toll is at 108 right now but expected to go higher. She said these are the worst fires since 1939. Stay safe, everybody!
Thank you Kristen. It is an awful time for all of us. So far, 135 poor souls have perished. These fires were so incredibly fast - like a tsunami which is unstoppable. It is less smokey today where I live, but we have friends, family and work colleagues in high risk areas still, and worry for them. Some rural friends, if they have to leave their property, will move in with us. It is a time when we appreciate telephones, and our National radio has done nothing else since Friday, also streamed via the Internet, - running updates, alerts, fire news etc. We are a resilient people, but this one is so very hard to cope with. Pat
I would also like to add my voice to the chorus of concern about the situation Down Under!
Like Kristen said: we are thinking of you and we hope that you and your loved ones are safe!
