One week, two places

I have been lucky to be able to travel to Ireland for work the last few years. I always have a week or so after that to travel and have been able to go to many places in Europe. My wife and I have a week in late June this year and we want to go to 2-3 places that are somewhat near each other. She is an artist, so we like galleries, but that's not imperative. I tried to look at pairings of places where we have not been that seem to be able to be done in a week, and are a half day's train or bus travel from each other. We do not want to spend the entire week in one place, we don't want to rent a car, and we prefer cities. Here are some possibilities so far, in no order, do you have opinions, or other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Lyon- Milan - Turin
Seville - Malaga - Cordoba - Granada
Marrakesh - Casablanca
Edinburgh - Glascow
Helsinki - Tallin
Copenhagen - Stockholm - Oslo
Milnius - Riga - Minsk
Bucharest - Sofia
Belgrade - Sarajevo

Krakow - Warsaw could be a good addition too for late June, there is a fast train that connects both.

Thanks Carlos, been to Krakow, but not Warsaw. Would you think Warsaw-Gdansk would be good?

This would be a major mistake:

Marrakesh - Casablanca

Skip Casablanca. There's really nothing there for a tourist (one mosque, otherwise it's just a city, and not an interesting one, not worth your time).

Now, if you're dreaming of Morocco, here's your solution: Marrakech - Fes.

Marrakech and Fes are well connected by a good train. It's a bit of a ride (will take most of a day) but it's comfortable, reliable, safe, nice (legacy of the French).

Fly in to Marrakech, spend a few days there, train to Fes, spend a few days there, fly out from Fes (or reverse the order). Flights to/from Morocco are dirt cheap. Only trick is the cheap flights don't go every day (every two or three) so be careful how you search and plan. A wonderful week-long "side-trip" from Europe.

ETA: June = summer + Sahara Desert = hot. Plan accordingly.

Warsaw - Gdansk would be a very good combination too, both well connected via train and quite nice in June.

Fes?

Oh yez!

You could even skip Marrakesh and day trip to the Berber Market in Khemisset.

Conversely, you could do Marrakesh and a side trip to Essaouira.

I avoid very hot weather, so I'd nix Southern Spain and Morocco immediately.

Cities that I really liked:
Tallinn - St. Petersburg (Tallinn is worth 2 days, St. P is certainly worth 4)
Warsaw - Gdansk (the first was interesting, the second great)

I was not overly impressed by Copenhagen, loved Stockholm, not heard great things about Oslo (Bergen is worth 1-2 days, esp. the Munch museum). If you've been to Russia, maybe combine Stockholm with Tallinn and Helsinki.

I've been told by friends that places like Bucharest aren't worth more than a day - the reason to do is to get out of the city and enjoy the countryside - nature, scenery, small towns. That would lead me to eliminate the last 3 suggestions on your list. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit Milan, especially in summer.

I vote for Warsaw and Gdansk. How about Berlin and Vienna?

Sorry for my late thanks to all of you. I will have to read more about Fez and Gdansk, both sound intriguing. Now I kind of want to go back to Paris after yesterday's sad event, I feel the need to support the city! Thanks everyone!

What happened yesterday gives me even more incentive for going back to Paris. It was on the agenda in June anyway prior to yesterday's horrific event
