I used to travel a lot with Dr. Bronner's liquid soaps, which are very concentrated and work well with lots of jobs. But I recently noticed that the formula now includes hemp oil. Call me paranoid, but I'm wondering whether I could get tagged at customs by some overeager drug dog (hemp being a close cousin of marijuana). Anybody had any experience traveling with this product?
I don't know about that, but I just bought the same liquid castile soup at Trader Joe's and it was really inexpensive and doesn't contain hemp.
You won't get tagged. Hemp oil/protein/etc. doesn't contain THC, so you won't be in trouble! I travel with all natural products regularly & have never been questioned.
Actually, in the 2001, Dr. Bronners couldn't import into Canada because of the hemp oil in it. The % was legal by Canadian law, and the oil itself had been purchased -in- Canada, but they didn't have way to test % in a water based product, so no dice. I assume this has been rectified in the 6 years since, but who knows? Theres a Bronner's-related site that I can't find lately that mentions it setting off alarms at airpoirts, but they didn't explain exactly why.
I found it, a pdf at the Dr Bronners site: Former drummer from the Germs was stopped by police for a broken tail light. They tested his Bronners, and it tested positive for GHB. The company paid for his defense, and he won his case , which presumably has made it safe for anyone to carry the soap in their car now.
