I have a credit on TAP Air Portugal to use from Oct 5-9, traveling round trip from the east coast of the US, preferably Boston or Hartford.
Where should I go?
Open to anyplace, anywhere except Barcelona, London and the Côte d’Azur.

If those four days are all you've got for the round trip, meaning 2.5/3 days on the ground, I'd keep things simple and avoid any connecting flights. So, from BOS that would just be Lisbon. (BDL would require a domestic connection on United.)

I'd take a nice direct flight Boston to Ponta Delgada Azores and enjoy the thermal hot springs for a couple of days!

Is this a $$ credit or miles?
If it's miles, TAP is a Star Alliance member, can your TAP miles be used on other Star Alliance member airlines?

Booked Boston to Lisbon. Kept it simple as was advised.
Arrive around 10 am on Thur. Oct 5 and leave around 5 pm on Monday Oct. 9.
I had a TAP voucher from a canceled flight earlier in the year. Looked like it could only be used on TAP
