NYTimes Travel Show

Is anyone planning on going to the NYT Travel Show next weekend? It's at the Javitts Center in NYC... Apparently RS is going to be giving a couple presentations, as are the Frommers. Has anyone gone to this show or others like it? Is it really useful or just a good way to kill an afternoon? I'm pretty tempted to check out, at $15 a pop. http://www.nyttravelshow.com/

Yes, I'm thinking about going next weekend on Saturday. Rick Steves' is speaking there.

I was at the NY Times travel show a couple of years ago. Rick, Samantha Brown, Anthony Bourdin, and a lot of other travel celebrities were in attendance. I didn't find it very useful, more of a fun afternoon. I got more from the various lectures, food samples, and ethnic music/dance performances than the booths themselves. I can't go this year as I will be leaving for Istanbul, but I probably would attend otherwise...just spend more time in the lecture rooms.
Also the NY Wine Expo will be using the other half of the Javits Center that weekend:"...sample over 600 wines from over 170 winemakers from around the globe in the Grand Tasting..." should be the place to be in NYC!!!!! P.S. Rick likes to eat his lunch inside the lecture rooms between appearances;)

Kris, I'd probably really enjoy that, but unfortunately a bit too far for me to travel at the moment (saving my travel funds for my next adventure in Europe). Perhaps I'll see if I can attend next year, as I'd like to have a superb hot meal at the famous Delmonico's Restaurant (I'm sure it won't be good for my waistline though). Cheers!
