Sounds like they're fishing for more financing and bleeding cash quickly. Cruise lines, pandemic, highly contagious virus, and social distancing just don't mix. Exactly the wrong product for this time, and extensive retooling would be needed to make it work (at the same time that resources are very scarce). Simple as that.

They are on the ropes and it does not look good. Like Carnival they stumbled in how they handled this crisis. Sill, they are a company that has grown as the popularity of cruising increases and deliver an experience that led to many repeat customers. Their Regent Seven Seas line is one of the premier lines in the business and we were hoping to sail with them in the next few years. Cruise ships have obvious problems with social distancing, but not unsolvable. Airlines on the other hand face a much greater challenge IMHO.

I can't imagine how a Mississippi cruise could possibly compare to a European river cruise....not to mention, those Mississippi cruises are in the middle of the summer, no place I want to be at that time of year.

I don’t believe Norwegian offers river cruises of any sort.

A Mississippi cruise in the summer would be like a steam room.

Yes, Norwegian does river cruises, but it's often by accident due to a hurricane.

Norwegian Cruise Line is the smallest of the three major cruise line companies. We have done 7 cruises with NCL but 13 cruises with either Celebrity or Royal Caribbean. Royal Caribbean owns Celebrity as well as other lines and is more likely to survive this coronavirus disaster.

We look forward to cruising once more, when there is a vaccine or when something like herd immunity is evident.

I don’t know what “deep discounting” the article is talking about. I have priced several cruises from about November through next spring and they are all outrageously expensive on multiple cruise lines. Like, you would think there was no crisis whatsoever. I suspect it is because most people this year have been forced to rebook their cruises for next year.
