My sister and I want to visit our uncle's grave at the American cemetery in Lorraine. Our thought is to fly into Frankfurt and take a bus from there to the cemetery. I assume a day or partial day at the cemetery will be sufficient. Our thought was to use Frankfurt as a home base. We would love to fit in a couple of days in Bruges. We'd prefer not to have to rent a car/drive, but maybe that's the only way to get there from either the cemetery or from Frankfurt?
Hi,
Which cemetery is it in Lorraine? It's a long drive from Frankfurt to Lorraine. Staying in Metz or even Saarbrücken is more doable.
Look at the website:

You can get there from Frankfurt by train to St Avold via Saarbrucken ( 3 to 4 hours) and taxi from there (about 2 miles from the station). From another thread on the cemetery in Belgium, with advance notice, a staff member will pick you up at the station if you have a relative buried there. You can enquire via the website info.
