Is my simple red and black North Face Backpack a little to flashy for traveling around Franch/Italy or am i worring to much?

Kelly, IMO you're worrying about an insignificant detail. When travelling around Europe, you'll likely encounter many different styles and colours of Backpacks. Yours probably won't stand out at all.
One nice thing about having slightly distinctive colouring, is the fact they're easier to spot on the airport baggage carousel!

Hey - no - you will just look like a GERMAN tourist! :) they like bright colors! But seriously, I love my Northface pack too... eventhough its more grey/blue. Rick usually recomeneds more "low key" colors - but you could just look like a local student so probably not a problem. Just be smart and aware of whats around you and keep the zippers closed (amybe even a small twisttie or a caribeener-like-clip to keep zipps shut.
