Normandy, Bruges, Chamonix, Milan and beyond

All,

My friend and I are traveling to Normandy for the anniversary of the D-Day landings in June. We plan on traveling from Normandy to Bruges, and then flying from Brussels to another destination. Right now, we are thinking a flight to Geneva and hiking in the French Alps would be a fun time. My friend whom I am traveling with is flying out of Milan. I look to have 3 to 4 days in the French/Italian Alps region and am looking for one good day of hiking before traveling to Northern Italy. Having read Rick's guide to the French Alps, it seems like the gondola to Aosta, Italy would be a super memorable experience. From there, I would hope to have time to travel down to the Cinque Terre to hike before my buddy returns to the States. I will then head on to Florence, maybe Siena, and Rome before heading home about 6 days after my friend departs in mid-June. Any Suggestions? If there are any absolute gems that any of you would recommend, I am all ears. Thanks in advance!

Joseph
