Nike Mary Jane's - for Paris walking

I've read all the shoe postings here (bought some Keen sandals as a result), but am looking for a 2nd pair. I'm specifically looking at the Nike Mary Jane's (as my nate to the Keen's, instead of my standbye tennis shoes). Have found mostly good reviews, but am wondering how well they hold up to walking (anywhere from 5-10 miles/day) in Paris. Feedback from those who have worn them is greatly appreciated.

shelly , doesn't matter what others say, what works for one pair of feet doesn't always work for another. Find what is comfy for YOU then wear them at least a month before you leave home.

the shoes look good but every foot has certain needs. What ever you choose, wear the shoes......ALOT......for long walks and if they work out, then you found the right shoe. I have taken 8 trips to Europe in the past 8 years and I think this year will be the FIRST year that I will have the correct shoes. I go in the winter, so I look for winter walking boots. I have been using Keen Palermo boots for the past 4 years, having to put in Dr Scholl's inserts just so I don't have heel pain. I shouldn't have to do that. I think I found the perfect shoe made by Merrell (Tetra ankle boot). But I will wear them a full month prior to my trip just to make sure.
Even the shoes that we might find perfect, are perfect for a few hours. When you are in Europe and are walking all day long, the shoes you love back in the states, are your new sworn enemy.

I went to Nike Store and tried them on and the velcro strap was not at all secure

Kelly, it sounds like you have solved your problem, but you might try Kalso Earth Shoes. The negative heel really helps with heel pain...but you definitely need to be used to wearing a negative heel before you get out and about.

Merely curious why you didn't get another pair of Keens. They have Mary Janes. The Toyah and Golden are nice. Bought my first pair of Keens five years ago. Had been experiencing horrible plantar fasciitius. Tried on a number of shoe brands but nothing worked until I tried on a pair of Keens. Within 3 weeks of daily walking in them, the acute pain was gone and has never returned. Own 4 pairs now. Besides being a miracle shoe for me I like them because they're stylish, durable and comfortable. Take two pair on every trip. Pricey? Oh yes! Worth every penny? Absolutely!!!

I think the key to any pair of shoes is just to make sure they fit properly. I can wear a pair all day.... as long as they fit. Different brands size their items differently. My one good pair finally wore out and now I'm on a mission to find shoes from a real shoemaker. I've heard there are some in Florence. Any suggestions???

I had a pair of Nike Mary Janes a few years ago, I thought they'd be great for traveling because they were so light weight. Unfortunately they did not have very good arch support, which was hard to tell when just trying on, but after doing some walking in them, my back was killing me. These shoes never made it on a vacation and I think I got rid of them pretty quick. I love my Keen Mary Jane's and wore them all over New York City in both the winter and spring and have been very happy with them. They will be going to Italy and London with me this summer!! For a second pair of shoes, I'm planning on taking a pair of Tom's (with arch support inserts).
