We were just there last weekend, in the same area. We left behind at least two people we now consider friends. We have heard from one who is a server in one of the bars right there off the promenade and she is fine. I haven't heard from the other yet. Prayers for all.

It's terrible. What can be done to stop it? I guess those who do it are not even people. Feeling good killing innocent people. I have never understood it. It's so sad. It can happen anywhere, even here. So it will not discourage me from traveling to Europe.

So sad. Thoughts and prayers to all who were affected - victims and loved ones. The terrorists sure seem to be targeting France hard lately and it seems they have some end game in mind that we just can't comprehend. And I also wish there was some way to stop it, but not being able to understand their motives makes it that much harder to fight them.

Horrific. Heartbroken once again.

CNN did a documentary on Isis a few months ago, and Frontline on PBS just aired one a few days ago. Both docs explain it all very well.

It's not going to stop anytime soon. These inhumans are pure evil.

"what can we do to stop it".

I have many ideas on this subject but this is not the message board for that.

I'm also deeply saddened by yet another heinous, senseless attack on innocent people. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

I agree with Susan in that these evil doers will not stop, so it's inevitable that these cowardly attacks will continue.

I, too, was stunned and heartbroken by this news.
And I can't comprehend what drives ISIL besides insane evil. (Although I'm reading a history of the Spanish Civil War and they aren't doing much more than the Nationalists did in the 30's ...)
I am planning a trip in the Fall from Amsterdam to Paris and Nice and Barcelona.
These continued attacks do make me nervous, but I'm still going.
In solidarity ...

I agree with all of you - my thoughts and prayers are with all involved. So tragic.

I am going to Italy in Oct on a RS tour - I will not stop following my travel dreams.
Seems like it is a new tragic event everyday when you turn on the news, just horrific.

I find it especially heartbreaking because of course many of these victims are young families - that seems to make it even worse. Another horrific blow.

I'm in shock over the state of the world today. I no longer know how to process each attack. There's so much anger and hate in the world. These killers are worse than animals. Animals don't know any better. We as people know better, yet we do it anyway.

This world is just crazy right now. Every day it is something new. I don't know what to think. I will be travelling to England with my son in less than a week. And although his father is worried that something might happen, I can not let the terrorists make me not want to live my life and travel the world. I don't recall another time in my lifetime that the whole world was in so much turmoil.

After watching the news and hearing about the truck running down people, I felt ill in my stomach and heart. For those of you who recently traveled there, I am sure you are deeply saddened. We should continue to live our lives as best we can, despite horrible news. The world has always been a crazy place. Just look at history. WW II. We need to continually support and appreciate our officials who are on the front lines combatting these actions. That includes police, government policy makers, computer security folks, military, and all other security folks. Let's continue to visit France as much as we can. If not, there's French wine and cheese to salute France. VIVA La FRANCE!

Nigel, indeed.

Everything is so troublesome in both my home country and my adopted country right now. I can hardly recommend traveling to either one.

Sometimes it is hard to remember the world is really full of good people.

So sad says it, condolences to Nice and the families so tragically hurt.
