Nice?

I going to Europe for about 2 1/2 weeks with that half week being plane traveling. I was wonder after starting in Paris and doing a few days there is Nice really worth a night spent, a day trip or not worth it at all. I plan from going to Zermatt for a day to ski then spending the last week + days in italy. I was wondering if I should just skip nice all together and go straight to zermatt so i can get a good nights rest before skiing and get soem extra time in Milan.

Any ideas or comments will be greatly appreciated.

Conor,

I agree with bluedenim. I was in Nice for a few days several weeks ago, and would have liked to stay longer. There's lots to see and do there, and just sitting there enjoying the ambience is great. By the time I finished day trips to Monaco & Monte Carlo, I didn't have enough time left to really explore any of the attractions in Nice, or get to Eze or Villefranche. I definitely plan on returning.

With a short time frame of only 2.5 weeks, you'll have to decide if you'll have the time (keeping in mind transportation times as well).

I was also in Milan recently, and unless there's a specific site you want to see there, I wouldn't plan for any "extra time in Milan". IMHO the time would be better spent in Nice, Italy or elsewhere.

Cheers!

I spent 4 nights in Nice at the tail end of a 2 week France trip. I loved it. It was great to end a trip soaking up sun on the beach. But we also enjoyed the town between beach bathing.

We also missed out on Eze and Villefranche because we just ran out of time. We did see Monaco and in hindsight, I sorta wish I had done Eze...but it is Monaco, so I am glad I can say I have been there and that I gambled in the famous casino (5Euro in a slot machine). But the wealth is SOOOOO over the top that I felt like I was just on the outside looking in. Odd.

But in Nice we did go to the Marc Chagall museum. The Russian Orthodox church. Ate mussels and gelato.

It was wonderful and beautiful. I would go back.

Nice is beautiful, lots to do for all age groups. I've been several times and will continue to spend time there in the future. Actually, Villfranche-sur-Mer, around the corner from Nice is my fav., then Eze le Village

I loved Nice and the whole Golden Coast. We booked a room for 3 or 4 nights and went to the other cities from there. We stopped in Marseille first, just for a couple of hours coming from Paris. Then went all over the coast , including Monaco, Cannes and St Tropez, even made it to.Driving along the coast was beautiful.
I would say to stop there for a night.

Hi Conor,

I have been going to Nice for 5 years now and this year I am spending 3 of my 6 week vacation in this beautiful city. It is definately worth the visit. My family and I fell in love and hope to spend much of our retirement there.

:-)

I'd save Nice for the next trip to Europe.
It takes about as long by train to get to Nice from Paris as it does Zermatt from Paris, plus it takes about 10 hours or so to get to Zermatt from Nice.
