New ricksteves.com Travel Store - Just Launched

Hi everyone,
We've alluded to a big change in the near future, something we've been working on for about a year, and the future is now. We've just replaced our previous-millennium online Travel Store. We've styled the new store to look much like the old one so that this isn't a jarring change, but there are a number of new features there. The site is now properly mobile friendly as well.

At the link below, you'll find that the www.ricksteves.com/shop page is unchanged, but every other page within the store is new. For all intents and purposes, the old travelstore.ricksteves.com website is kaput. The new website is at store.ricksteves.com

I think adding a review section to the Travel Store would be a very good idea. We have purchased several products in the past thru the Travel Store and certainly would have liked to have read reviews of some of the items we purchased before we made the purchase.

Good suggestion. Most of the sites I purchase items from, have customer reviews - which I read and value.

Wow, looks good! Easy to find products, add to cart, and check out.

Several travel bags and packing cubes on sale, 20% off until this weekend.

And love the opening page with the photo of Rick, and you can click on the "Rick's Tips For Packing Light And Right" article. I also like the list on the left that helps you go to the exact category you want. Likewise with the photos and categories in the center of the page.

Good design. Easy to use. Well done!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your comments. It is a goal to add the ability to leave comments for products in our store. A prerequisite is having a sign-in account system in the store (e.g. so you can just sign in and not enter your shipping info every time, only leave comments on items you purchased, etc) which is something we are looking at but is no small task. The good news as that the new build of our store will actually allow for that. Baby steps... ;)
