New Rick Steves Vintage Tee Shirt

Anyone bought and received one if these new tee shirts yet? I have the original "Keep on Travelin" shirt in a 2XL and my wife has a Medium, both about five years old (and still good). I'm looking to find out how the sizing on the new shirt compares to the old one before ordering two of them. Any help from someone who has both would be appreciated. Thank you.

I was in the same boat. My old, comfy and well worn RS shirt got a (gasp) bleach stain and I bought a replacement when they went on sale. Size wise they are about the same. But the material ! Ugh. Very flimsy and thin. I’m so disappointed. First , the quality of my favorite sandals dropped like a rock and now this.

I wear a women's small and it is true to size. I really like the thin t-shirt material though. It's a nice and lightweight and oh so soft.

I like the design and color of the new one so much better than the Keep on Traveling one. I've been thinking of ordering one and I'm glad to hear that it is thinner and softer material - more to my liking in T-shirts. I would like to know how the sizes compare from the old one to the new one before I order one so I hope someone has both and can comment.

Also, for those who have them, is the material somewhat more stretchy than the old one? I have larger upper arms and need some give in the sleeves.

I would love it if RS brought out new t-shirt designs every now and then.

FYI

After asking the forum for advice (see above), I bought two RS vintage tee shirts based on the Keep on Travelin shirts sizes we have. We were told they were the same sizes. The Medium my wife received was slightly larger, but OK for her. My2XL was considerably larger when laid on top of the older shirt and much too big for me. I contacted RS for instructions to exchange it for an XL but was disappointed to learn they don't do "exchanges". Their instructions were to return the shirt to them for credit and then purchase a new shirt from their store if I wanted another one. They do not provide paid return labels and I was required to return it at my expense through a company who provided tracking of the package. The USPS was least expensive, and this cost me $9.85, ** nearly half the price of the shirt**. To their credit, I guess, RS did give me a discount code for free shipping, but now I have to wait 4-6 weeks to get the credit on my credit card. Having spent thousands of dollars through the online store over the past 15 years for everything from money belts to guidebooks to luggage. this was an unpleasant experience for me. Not enough to shop elsewhere, yet, but still disappointing. Shame, Shame.

On the previous post I said RS did give me a code for free shipping, but failed to mention it was free shipping on my NEXT purchase....which turned out to be the same shirt is a smaller size. Still cost me half the price of the shirt to return it.

I ordered a couple of these, and I also found this new shirt to be slightly larger in size compared to the keep on traveling shirts. The material is also thinner. Still more than fine for my purpose of wanting to wear around the house.

Nancy, I do find the material to be more stretchy with this new shirt. I like my shirts big, so I didn’t mind that this new one is larger. But if you prefer more of a fitted shirt, you might want to order down a size.

Mary, I love the idea of new designs. I work from home and these shirts are part of my work uniform during the summer. :)

Just ordered mine! :-)

Carrie, you've inspired me to wear my Keep on Travelin' shirt during my next work meeting. My boss will probably say "you travel enough!"

To each their own --- and I think Rick Steves is a good guy -- but not for me.

I think of Rick as a bit of augmentation to my own traveler spirit, not a T-shirt worthy guru whom I want to be identified with.

To quote Caddy Shack, looks good on you though! ;)
