I am posting links to two articles about the new FAA Announcement regarding carrying rechargeable Lithium-ion Batteries. While it is unlikely to influence the way most of the people on these forums pack etc., I found the approaches in the two stories in terms of one "Terrible Danger" and the other a more "Information Story" vibe kind of interesting. Plus, it is good information to know if someone tries to tell you about not taking your cell because the plane will explode!
I've seen that for quite a while on the restricted/forbidden items list that airlines have on their websites.
Interesting writing styles in the 2 articles.
I suspect they will ban the carrying of larger Lithium-Ion batteries on passenger flights, but will still allow smaller batteries in Laptops and phones. I'm not sure what the answer is for carrying large batteries on cargo flights? I suspect they will have to reach some sort of compromise or install better fire suppression systems.
