New comprehensive Van Gogh online database is now available

A new comprehensive Van Gogh online database is now available, at this link:

https://vangoghworldwide.org/

The Van Gogh and Kroller-Mueller Museums have combined resources to provide this database. The timing is fortuitous since we can't travel there and even if we could, these two museums have, in the last week, had to close until covid conditions ameliorate.

The new database is a great resource for those of us who are Van Gogh fan-atics.

Reminds me of my last visit to these two museums on a Netherlands trip in 2018. Was able to tour the museums on two consecutive days. The Kroller-Mueller was especially rewarding, a bit of a hidden gem, it's about an hour and a half east of Amsterdam by train and bus.

Enjoy....

Thanks for the link. We were there in 2015. One of our favorite museums and cities.

As a Van Gogh fan-atic thank you for the link. We visited the Van Gogh Museum in September 2019. Of course sad to hear the Museums are closed indefinitely. That said, we will enjoy the new database.

As a Van Gogh fan, I prefer the Kröller-Müller Museum to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

The Kröller-Müller Museum has the second-largest collection of Van Gogh paintings in the world, And it's generally NEVER crowded. Thus, you can get closer to the paintings and very much enjoy them. In addition, unlike the Van Gogh Museum, you are allowed to take pictures of the paintings (Try that in Amsterdam and it feels like you're in the Sistine Chapel ----> NO PHOTO!)

The Kröller-Müller Museum is located in De Hoge Veluwe National Park and if you park your car just as you enter, you can hop on one of the free white bikes and ride to the museum. What can be more Dutch than that!

I agree with Ron's post immediately above. In 2018 we followed instructions in Rick's guidebook (Amsterdam & The Netherlands) and got to the Kroller-Mueller by taking a train from Amsterdam to the Ede-Wageningen station (near Otterlo); and then followed Rick's detailed instructions on how to get from that station to the museum. Yes, you can take photos at the K-M! And their cafeteria makes unexpectedly good food, which you can enjoy on welcoming patio seating.
