Need suggestions for travel in October

We are traveling to England to visit our son in October but I'm having a hard time deciding where else to go.
Parameters and options:
Son is only available in October on weekends.
Daughter might be joining us for one week only.
Husband and I have been to Italy and loved it. We went late March/ early April.
Would love to have similar experiences on this trip. Visited Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Rome, Capri.
I have been to London, Cambridge (where son lives), bath, Cotswolds, Oxford, Stonehenge. My husband and daughter have not been to England.
Need to be able to get daughter to/ from an airport. She is an adult and has flown solo in the US.
Travel between approximaty 10/14 and 10/30.
Start somewhere warmish (husband is super coldblooded) for one to 1 1/2 weeks then go to London to the UK honey show (husband is a beekeeper) and to visit our son.
Another option is to go the end of September to somewhere in Europe and end up in Cambridge in early October.
So many places I want to see but many will be cold in October. We like history, gorgeous views, hiking, and being immersed in the culture.
Thanks so much for any recommendations you can provide.

How about Greece? Weather is still warm enough for beach time. History and ruins abound, beautiful islands, good food/wine. If it were me I’d head to Western Crete, hiking the gorges. Rent a car and drive along the coast visiting the many different sites. Good connections to the UK through Athens. So many choices Rhodes is lovely also.

Weather in September/October can range from too hot to do much to too pleasantly warm.

I'm a huge fan of Wales, which would tick all your boxes and is near by. Paris and Normandy are just across the channel -- lots of history and tons to see with easy transportation.

Halloween in Edinburg is on my bucket list, if you stay in the UK.

Do as the English do during this time and visit sunny Spain lol! But seriously, Andalucía, Catalonia, or even the Balearic Islands should tick all your boxes, balmy weather, deep multi-cultural history, excellent hiking, and world-class food culture.

To the above, add Sicily, Crete, and Turkey to your list of considerations.

If you do the southern excursion in September rather than late October, that greatly expands your potential options.

October is nice in the Mediterranean countries like Greece, Italy and Spain. Also, France, especially in the south is good.
The UK can be chilly in October, but not so bad. Avoid Scandinavia and Germany.

I have had miserable weather in Greece in October. I would go southern Spain or Portugal or possibly the south of France.

We have been to Southern France in the Nice, France area on the Mediterranean in early October and loved it. There are regional trains to easily see Villefranche sur Mer, the hilltop village of Eze, Monaco, and Antibes. The airport in Nice is convenient.

October in Spain provides wonderful weather and less tourist. EZ to travel from England to multiple destinations in Spain and fairly inexpensive.

Spain was beautiful in October - went to Barcelona, Granada, Seville, Cordoba, and Madrid. Also went to Bruges and Amsterdam - is was cool and rainy but we had a great time. Needed gloves, waterproof jacket and umbrella as we spent quite a bit of time outdoors between museums.
