Need recommendation

I am flying to Madrid in 10 days. My daughter, who is traveling a week before me, will be picking me up at the airport. She will have a car. Neither of us have been to the Madrid Airport and it looks like it's a huge airport. Does anyone have a recommendation as to where we can meet up? I'm flying Delta and land at T1. Maybe a restaurant in the airport? or??? Being cellphone-less at that point is beginning to spark some fears of the unknown. Plane lands at 9:30 am. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Time is critical....she leaves in 3 days and we will need to get this figured out before she leaves. Thanks!

My default meeting place is at the baggage claim carrousel where bags from your flight are to arrive. I use this meeting place even when I am not checking a bag. No matter what the configuration of the airport, you can always get directed to the right baggage claim carrousel as long as you know the flight in question.

Great idea which I hadn't considered before. The only problem is that many airports in Europe have the Baggage Reclaim point before the Arrivals door and therefore inaccessable to the non travelling public. I always meet at the Arrivals Gate. You know which flight is servicing which gate. Alternatively most airports have Hertz car hire I am pretty sure, so you could meet there, or at the Lost Property point.

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to my question. I had thought of meeting at baggage claim too, but would not have known they might be inside the arrival gate. Thanks for that heads-up. And appreciate the kindness from both of you.

Most airports, even in the US, have the baggage claim before you get to the public area of arrivals. Best to meet right outside the door, where you see people from car services waiting with signs.

Most airports also have a designated meeting point. Have you looked at the plan of the airport to see if they have one of these, or perhaps a cafe' where you could sit and wait with a coffee.

Thanks everybody, for your pointers. I've shared them with my daughter and now we're both feeling much relieved to have some direction. Thanks a lot for caring enough to share.Sounds like you all are well-traveled, so thank you so much for lending your wisdom. Much appreciated.
