My teenage son, wife and I plan to travel to Israel from Los Angeles for 3 weeks in July 2008. Because the airfares are so expensive I wanted to give my son a taste of Europe as part of the trip. I want to stopover in England on the way to Israel for 4 or 5 days on the way there. I also want to stop over in Paris on the way back home for a couple of days. I want to get from the Airports in London & Paris to some nice place in London/Paris and then take guided bus or van tours around England & later Paris. The lowest price possible, plus airline safety is of concern to us. There are so many options/variables regarding where to stay & which tours to take in London/Paris, how to get to the place we are staying at from the airport and which airlines to use. Round trip airfare with stopovers in London & Paris does not seem available; I guess it would have to be one-way flight with stopovers? There is so much involved that we need your valuable help & experience. We are flexible on the dates and time of departure and arrival in order to get the lowest prices. Thank you very much for your detailed response!
Hello Vince. I can't be of much help about where to stay/bus tours, but I was wondering if you selected 'Multi-City' when you put in your traveling dates? Try a website like www.kayak.com, www.sidestep.com, or www.bookingbuddy.com. These 3 websites compare many different prices on many different airlines (similar to expedia, but they have even more airlines listed).
You can put in all your dates and stopovers(such as LA - London; London - Israel; Israel - Paris; Paris - LA) and then get prices. I hope this helps.
Which airport will you be flyfing into for London? If it is Gatwick, I'd recommend taking the Gatwick express train from the airport to Victoria Station. Stay at a hotel in that area (we love the Victoria Thistle right in the station, but there are lots of others, too, in all price ranges). The Tube will be easy to access and there's lots of good resturants and pubs in the area. Do a "hop on hop off" bus tour of Lonodon and just walk around. There are lots of day trips too. I recently wrote an article for AAA Carolina's Go magazine you can check it out at http://www.aaacarolinas.com/Magazine/index.htm just use 28208 as the requested zip code. Feel fre to contact me for more ideas.
also try orbitz.com and push multi-city - you can put three to four cities in there.
Paris is super easy - great places to stay by CDG airport and a 30 min train ride into Paris. There are a bunch of bus tour rides - hop on & hop off tours (London has similar tours). They are great for a city overview and then you can hop off when you want to visit an attraction.
