Navigating multiple airports

I'm flying from Cleveland Ohio to Leeds UK via Newark and Dublin. My flight from CLE to Newark is on United. From Newark to Dublin and to Leeds is on Aer Lingus. Do I need to pick up my bag in Newark and recheck it with Aer Lingus? Will I be able to check it through to Leeds from Newark?

Coming back I'm flying Dublin to Boston for the middle leg. I know I can clear US customs in Dublin but I have a 1 hour 45 minute layover in Dublin. Is this enough time? Since my flight from Boston to Cleveland is on United can I even clear in Dublin and check my bag through? I do have a Global Entry card.

Mary,
Did you purchase your flights to and from Europe on one ticket?

If you did, you won't need to pickup you luggage in Newark and go checkin again.

If you purchased the your domestic flights separately, you will need to have more time to pick up your next flights.

Upon arriving in Boston from Dublin, your luggage will be there for you to pick up to go through US customs. Customs and Immigration can take quite a bit of time, and 1 hour and 45 minutes is pushing your luck. Global Entry will help, since Boston is an approved airport.

There is no customs and passport check in Boston on the return. That is all done in Dublin, as noted by the OP. She will simply walk off the plane in Boston straight into the domestic terminal.
