National Geographic Sling Bag

I'm ready to spend some of my visa reward points on travelling gear. Already ordered 20" carry-ons for my kids and am looking at a small National Geographic Sling Bag. A backpack/daypack would be too big for me so this looks quite appealing. Anybody seen or used it?

From what I can tell from the website, it looks very sturdy. My only question is how the various sections close. The flaps conceal the openings, so I can't tell if the are open or zipped, etc. That would be my only objection. I would want more than just a flap.

It looks like something I would use. In fact, I have bought a pattern and plan to make something very similar.

If you have time, you can always order it, check it out, and return it if you don't like it.

They sell that line at The Camera Store on 11th Ave. Maybe swing by and look at the construction before you order it.

I examined those bags and my initial reaction was that although they look cool, they aren't all that practical. I went with an Eagle Creek instead.

Thanks Pete! I had checked out some stores in the malls but haven't been able to find the bag. And since it would be coming from a reward program it would be difficult to return. I have to get my camera fixed anyway so this is a good trip to make.
