Name Change

Over the last few months, I've noticed that some people get me Frank (USA), me, confused with Frank (Centennial, Colorado.)

So, I think I'll change my onscreen name not to confuse others as both of us, Frank's that is, tend to post frequently.

I will defer to the other Frank, who has seniority over me, strictly by posts, not by age (although he is older but I would never mention that on this board--oops). And I will change my screen name.

But what to change it to? I was going to open it up and ask for suggetions but I have a feeling some of the responses would make even the webmaster blush.

So, from now on, I will be listed as Franklin. Somewhat formal, yes, but enough of a difference so that people don't get us confused.

Addendum...it looks that by changing my name, all my previous posts changed as well.

What a wimp?? Can't take the heat I generate for you? Seriously, probably is a good idea since some people don't read their posts very well prior to responding. Will see if the more formal Franklin is, in fact, more formal.

I hated being called that. Franklin is not my favorite but it's better than "Frankie."

I could always go the European route...Franco or Francois,

Sorry, Jo.

ooh, Francois sounds cool.

Honestly though, I do think it is a good idea on the website to make people pick different names. Most forums are like that. You get a "sorry, that name is already being used" and then you get to pick something else.

Webmaster? Are you taking notes?

That's right, that's why I changed my name to Gonzy instead of John. Every house has a john but how many have a Gonzy?

Franklin sounds very distinguised. I like it :-)

I was also thinking of changing my name seeing that some out there think I'm male (last I checked I am still female...), and also don't get the pronunciation which really is more like Ayelee, but been too lazy.

How about we call you Mr. Roosevelt?

When I first saw the heading, I thought "oh no! someone messed up their plane ticket again!"

I think we should have a "Name that Frank" contest! Some of the above suggestions are quite creative.

Now if we could just get all the Franks to meet up in Frankfurt.

Actually I would prefer to be called --

Charlemagne, King of the Franks

So what do we have here - a gaggle of Frankophiles?

Let me be frank. Now that Frank is Franklin will he still be frank. Frankly Franklin it's a good move. I only wish there were another Laurel so I could change my name.

Hi (Formerly Frank) Franklin,
I agree that the name change is a good idea--thanks for letting us know--it was confusing! I also agree that it's a bit formal but probably the best option!

Soooo, frankly, if all the Franks (and Franklin), met in Frankfurt for a frank conversation, used their francs to buy lunch consisting of (OK, I won't go there, this ones too easy), while listening to Frankie Avalon, and then went looking for Frankenstein .......

Now that I've changed my name, and everyone's had a good laugh....can I wear shorts?

Only if we can get Kent in that pair of Liederhosen that was suggested a few posts ago.

(I can't remember which version of Liederhosen I need to spell. Have to check with Lee)

I now have tears running down -- thanks for the laugh, I really needed that -- it's been a long tax season

I dunno, Franklin. "Heyyy....Frankieeee!" Reminds me of Sinatra with a fedora pulled down over his right eye....very retro and very classy!

There is a series of children's books about a turtle named Franklin. The one we had, and I am not making this up, was "Franklin is Bossy." Hhhmmm....

Or you could be The Poster Formerly Known As Frank.

I shall now become...Incognito.

Not all men look good in shorts, but seeing you're now Franklin you have my permission to show those knees :-)

Gary,

Lederhosen.

Liederhosen are pants that sing. (Lied, pr. Leet, is the German word for song; Lieder, pr. Leeder, is the plural. Leder, pr. Laader) is leather.

BTW, Leber is liver; in case you are ever in a German restaurant and don't like liver, avoid anything called "Leber".

I like Leberwürst, sometimes called Braunschweig in this county. But Leberknodelsuppe, a popular dish in Bavaia, no way. Imagine eating a tennis ball that tastes like liver.

And, leider, means unfortunately or regretfully. So, Leiderhosen is ..., no, I won't go there. ;)

I'm really curious if your thought your name change post would cause so many responses! Also, do you still like Timmy (#15)? Just want to make sure name changes don't change everything!

I think this Kent from Canada will remain Kent. But I defer to Kent from Oregon as he has all of the answers and I only ask questions. 8-)

Maybe it's time for a name change Kent(s),

How about Kenny?

Or Kenneth?

Let's see which of you will become the lovable Kenny or the distinguished Kenneth!

Please...not Kenny. Otherwise, we'll get a continual raft of, "Oh my God! They killed Kenny!"

Thanks Lee. I know the "hosen" thing was covered a few weeks ago, but couldn't remember. Based on what you said, I WILL remember not to order anything with "leber" when I go to Germany (not a liver fan), especially liver tennis balls. And I definitely will stay away from leiderhosen!

So as far as the Kent's of the world.....

Kent from Ontario would prefer to stay Kent, but our friend Kent in Oregon is kind of our shepard. There is really only 1 Kent! So for Kent from Oregon it must be something special, something that sets the tone. Clark Kent? Mild mannered but takes charge when he has to?

Laurel,

You could always change your name to Hardy...
