I have acrylic nails, and I will be in Italy for 4 weeks. Does anyone know of any nail places around Venice?
I recall a long discussion of acrylic nails a while ago, I suggest searching for this topic.
The only answeres on here about acrylic are not about Italy except to say they have not found a place there that do them.
I did hair for years and had acrylics on for over 10. I always made my fills last over 3 weeks. I was so busy working in the salon that I never had time to have my own nails done. I do have some tips on how to make your fills last in case you can't find a place or you find out they cost 4xs what you pay at home...
1- get a fill either the day you leave or the day before and have your nails just alittle longer than athletic lenth unless you already wear them shorter.
2- if you don't have pinks and whites, don't get a french manicure because the white on the tips tend to chip and is more noticable, use a sheer color. If you do have pink and whites, have the white part put down just alittle lower than you would get normally done.
3- bring along a course file and a finer file. If after 2 weeks you can't find a place for fills and you can't (cont....)
(...cont) stand it any longer, buff down the back edge of your nail so there is less of a ridge. You might want to have some super glue to put on the ridge first so you don't get any chips. (oh yeah, take off any nail polish first)
4- if they are getting too long, file them down with the course file. This will keep them from breaking or popping up at the base due to preassure on the tips working as leverage.
5- take sheer and clear polish with you. Even if you have pinks and whites a sheer color will kind of hide the buffed down ridge and make the need for fills less noticable.
I did alot of these things during our honeymoon because I didn't want to take time out to have my nails done while we were traveling.
I hope you find a place in Italy once you get there or before you go. If you do... let us know. :)
Thanks to all who posted responses. I think I will follow Christina's advice!
