My hotel won't get back to me

I'm supposed to leave for Paris in 9 days, and have sent several emails that have immediately bounced back as "failed." I've checked their website, the RS book, the confirmation emails were sent from the listed account. I noticed they changed their domain name from .com to .fr, so I stuck a .fr to the end of the email address and it sent, but I received no response. I need help figuring out how to get from the airport to our hotel because we're getting there on a Sunday, which means that the RER-B that we'd normally take is going to be shut down AFAIK. Should I just call? I barely speak any French, and I get the impression that there isn't always an English speaker there. But an English-only speaker trying to get directions to the hotel from a French-only speaker sounds like a nightmare. I guess I shouldn't presume that will automatically be the case...

What are you waiting for, CALL them. I have encountered the "non-response" from places that I have reservations with in Europe to e-mails that I have sent and then I call them (be mindful of the time zone changes-don't call them in the middle of their night) and have always been able to communicate via the telephone. I do so enjoy Paris. Hope the demonstrations are over by the time you get there. aloha

If you got the hotel's name from a RS book, there is an excellent chance that people on the day-shift will speak enough English to understand you...... Call during normal business hours THERE, so that would be about 8am to 4pm there and 11pm to 7am westcoast time, taking the 9 hr time difference into account...... If you give us the name of your hotel in Paris, someone on the Helpline may be able to assist you.

You could also tell us where your hotel is and the time and day you're arriving at the airport. One of us could likely give you reliable information about how to get there from the airport.

Thanks for offering to help. "Airports : Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle : RER B (direct), get out at the Luxembourg station." Incredibly simple, but I'm still confused about how to get there. Is there going to be a bus route that traces the RER route? Thanks. Should I still call them to reconfirm my reservation? For more detailed information please PM me.

In June, a cab from CDG to a different hotel in the 5th cost us about 50 euros. It may cost more than other options, but it would save you lots of headaches! If you have the address written out for the cab driver, plus perhaps a printed google map, you should not have any problems getting to your hotel.

James[INVALID]Seriously, who is going to use this information against me? And what does this have to do with the recently-foiled terrorist plot? But I'll get rid of it if it offends you so much. If anyone would like to help with directions please PM me. Cynthia[INVALID]I would love to just take a cab, but my husband is against it. I might be able to persuade him otherwise.

If you just google the address of the hotel, you will get a map that will then show public transportation. Then try a google earth search. This will give you an excellent idea of where your hotel is located and let you walk down the street with confidence....You might try setting up a different email account. Try yahoo or gmail. Sometimes these just go into spam boxes, so use a different one than you are presently using.

James,, seems like a bit of paranoia,, I mean hello,, Judey,, whos name may in fact be Mary,, no last name posted, from city that may or may not be Redmond( where there are likely dozens if not hundreds of Judeys or Marys,) will be in Paris from one date to next at Hotel Bla Bla,, how can anyone use that?? I travel alone and have never felt unsafe posting where I am staying.. and btw,, you don't know my real name either,, LOL

First of all, James, you're lying about what information I posted. I posted the time of day my flight was arriving and the day of the week it was arriving[INVALID]not the date. I also didn't give the dates I was checking into and out of the hotel. I came here for help, not to get attacked by some paranoid conspiracy theorist. Why do some people on here insist upon being rude? Why bother posting if you have nothing constructive to add? You must lead a pretty sad life if this is how you choose to spend your spare time.

Judy, this may seem elementary but may I suggest the info found at CDG airport site http://europeforvisitors.com/paris/articles/paris-cdg-ground-transportation.htm which suggests the bus. I;ve used the AirFrance bus http://videocdn.airfrance.com/cars-airfrance/index_en.html. see http://europeforvisitors.com/paris/articles/paris-cdg-ground-transportation-buses.htm for more. Then a taxi from perhaps Invalides ( big Airfrance office there. If you look online for the Paris Metro system map you'll see Luxembourg station. Do check the website of the hotel. Or prearrange a shuttle from the airport to the hotel. More than public transportation, less than a taxi Are you taking a GPS- so very handy for getting around.

[my name might be Eileen, or may in fact be 'Mary'...;-) ] If no one has PM'd you yet about the following website, do digest all of the very useful info on ParisByTrain.com - and it's not all about trains, either. And if you repost your hotel name and address, you might get some responses (since we can't guess), ALTHOUGH even that won't be necessary if you read the website I gave you...And take a copy of that reservation confirmation with you just in case...Have a great time in Paris!
