Bookmarks Restored

Did this happen to anyone else? I have saved some very detailed responses on which I intend to rely heavily. I hope this is just a RS Forum glitch that will be resolved shortly. Thanks!

Webmaster edit: I changed the title of this thread. See my post below. 2/10/22

Mine too. Oops. That's unfortunate.

Might be related to the updated spam filtering that was just added, or maybe not -- but someone has been tweaking things, and there's always the possibility of unintended consequences.

I assume a tweak should bring bookmarks back intact, so no need to panic. Give them some time to pop the hood and yank on some wires.

I hadn’t looked until now. My bookmarks are gone too. Fortunately I saved a couple that I thought were especially helpful into my Google bookmarks. Hopefully the webmaster can restore bookmarks but doubtful.

Drat, mine, too. The message says “ You don't have any topics bookmarked.” Where’d they go?

And me, too!😩 Thanks for letting them know, LizinPA!

The topics that I’ve bookmarked still show as “bookmarked”. I bookmarked a new post this morning (testing, testing) and I still show no saved bookmarks. Sooo..maybe this can just be reversed? Fingers crossed!

My bookmarks have disappeared too!

Hopefully we can all get them back!

Edited to add:
Just bookmarked a post but it didn’t show up on my account.
Remember when this feature was added, I wonder if it has been deleted?!?

I also have the experience of not being able to Bookmark new topics. RS webmaster, help us!!!!

Happened to me also. Hopefully it's just the computer gremlins being mischievious and they'll soon return to playing nicely.

I would suggest that people refrain from trying to add new bookmarks -- if they have to do some kind of selective backup to restore those lost, having new bookmarks added after the hiccup will only complicate their efforts to sort things out.

Don't freak out. It's still before 9 am Edmonds time, give them a chance to investigate and work on this. Don't panic.

Hey all,
We're looking into it. My sincere apologies that this happened in the first place and that I don't have a better answer just yet.

Edit: I already have an update from our IT crew. Bookmarks are saved properly, but they just aren't showing in your Account. We have automated tests to check for this sort of thing, but obviously that didn't work with the latest code release.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

Hey everyone,

Your bookmarks are once again available in your Account. Be sure to refresh your page if you don't immediately see this. Please accept our sincere apologies for any shock or concern you felt after seeing these disappear. We appreciate your patience with us as we worked this out.

Thanks for your emails, PMs, and this thread to raise the alarm. I've changed the title of this thread to indicate the resolution.

Thank you, Webmaster. We do appreciate you and your staff, even if we don't always act like it.

Have you considered emailing to yourself the thread(s) you're interested in?

I do this. Once in my email, I "move" them to the appropriate folder... in my current case "Greece 2022"
They're all there and since they are links to the threads, I can click at anytime and get the most complete version of the thread.

Thanks for the restoration, Webmaster and crew! I wonder if the bookmark issue was somehow related to the new spam-reduction measures just enacted? High tech comes with the occasional glitch, but glad this one was (easily?) resolved.

On yo the next thing to deal with . . .

Great suggestion, ribaholic60! That would be nicely searchable too.
