Munich, Venice, Paris, London, and Dublin???

We are planning out trip to Europe. We are flying into Munich. We would like to go to Venice, Paris, London, and then are flying out of Dublin. We are going to be there for two weeks. I am curious if this is a doable trip. We have been reading up on travelling and trying to figure out the best way to go. We will technically have 12 days over there. We fly into Munich sometime in the morning. We are thinking of just hitting up Venice for the day. We would like to see the rest for a couple of days. I am just wondering if anyone has any advice on this trip. If it is possible to hit all of these places up in 12 days time. Thanks

Wow, five countries in 12 days...that is a lot of traveling around for such a short time. You will be too busy moving from place to place to really see anything. Have you researched the time and money it takes to get from one place to another? Does your 12 days include the day you arrive and the day you fly home? I would cut Venice out. I think it's too much traveling for such a short time. Have you been to Europe before? If not, I would say that you need a minimum of three days each in Paris and London, more would be even better. You could spend 2 nights in Munich, 4 each in Paris & London and 2 in Dublin. Remember, 2 nights somewhere equals one day.

We will get into Munich at 11:20 AM. The 12 days does not count the travel to and from the US. We have been trying to decide to cut one out and it is looking like it will be Venice. We have looked into flying around to the countries, taking the train, and renting a car. There will be four of us travelling. We have heard good and bad things on taking the cheaper flights around Europe. So we have not decided yet how we are going to get around.

can you do it...yes. Will you enjoy it? Maybe. You will have to plan on about a day or half of a day to get from one city to the next. Just kicking around random ideas: Train from Munich to Venice is 7 hours on average. You could book a cheap flight from Venice to London with Easyjet or Ryan Air (or to Paris with Ryan air but it is a hassle to get from the ryan air airport to the city). Spend time in one of those two cities then take the chunnel to the other. You could then see if Airlingus has cheap flights into Dublin. My friend did a crazy trip like this last month. They drove the entire way. They drove from 3am till they got to each city so that they could see the sites in the afternoon. I don't know how much fun they really had, but they did it.

The itinerary you've got is far too aggressive. All that you'll remember of your trip is the inside of airports and train stations. Have you already purchased your tickets? If not, then I would suggest either flying into Munich and out of Frankfurt, with a possible side trip to Venice. There's plenty to see in Germany alone, if you make your way from Munich to the Frankfurt area. Alternatively, you could fly into Munich and out of Paris.

If you've already purchased your tickets, then I would suggest seeing only Munich, London, and Dublin. That's about all that's really doable.

Going to Venice for just a single day would not be worth the time and expense involved.

Unless you flew, I don't even believe it's possible to visit Venice in one day from Munich.

But like the other's said, your trip is far too aggressive for 12 days.

Thanks for all of your input. We did decide to drop Venice. We will be spending two days in Munich, taking an overnight train to Paris. We will spend four days in Paris and taking the Eurostar to London. We will then spend four days there and take RyanAir to Dublin, where we are flying out of back to the USA. We will have two days there.

Katie, your new plan sounds much more reasonable and I think you will enjoy this trip more when you don't try to cram so much in. Have a great time!

That sounds much better. 12 days was just not enough to cover all that ground. You will have a great time.
