Munich to Madrid

Hello Helpful People,

We are planning a trip, and toward the middle of it we will be in Munich (some of our travels include concerts and this particular concert is in Munich). We will leave Munich on the 9th of the month, and we are to be in Madrid on the 19th. I've put together a few possible ways to travel to Madrid, but it hit me that some of you might have different suggestions that might appeal, OR you might have opinions about the ideas I have. Train times are approximate, of course.

Maybe I'm asking too much to have you look all of this over. I do apologize if that's the case!

Idea #1
MUNICH TO PARIS. FLY OR TRAIN

PARIS TO MONTPELLIER 3 1/2 hr train
MONTPELLIER TO ZARAGOZA >5 hr train
ZARAGOZA TO MADRID 1 1/2 hr train

 (Is Zaragoza worth a visit?)

Idea #2
MUNICH TO PARIS. FLY OR TRAIN

PARIS TO MARSEILLE 3 hr train
]MARSEILLE TO ZARAGOZA 6 1/2 hr train
ZARAGOZA TO MADRID 1 1/2 hr train

Idea #3
MUNICH TO KARLSRUHE 3 hr train (but what’s in Karlsruhe? Worth it? No??!)
KARLSRUHE TO LYON 4 3/4 hr train

LYON TO BARCELONA 5 hr train
BARCELONA TO MADRID 2 hr train

Idea #4
FLY MUNICH TO MARSEILLE (LUFTHANSA- DIRECT)

TRAIN MARSEILLE TO BARCELONA 4 1/2 hr train
TRAIN BARCELONA TO ZARAGOZA 1 1/2 hr train
ZARAGOZA TO MADRID 1 1/2 hr train

Zaragoza gets very favorable mention on the Spain page. I had a trip planned last year but had to cancel. There is a lot to see and it would make a nice stopover.

Thanks, @valadelphia! Silly me ... hadn't thought to look here on the forum for reports on various places. I think I'll blame our hot weather.

Did you search Google "Karlsruhe tourists attractions" already to find out what's there, or just list it in your itinerary randomly?

Jazz+Travels, I did google and just didn't see a ton there, but I admit I only skimmed at this point. I merely chose that city because the train conveniently stopped there on the way to Lyon: we prefer not to spend TOO much of a day on the train and like to break things up.

But I will do more research on my own and see what else I can find out. (AND write to my brother who lives in Heidelberg and get his opinion!)
