Munich, Germany or Bern, Switzerland

I can spend 4-5 days on one of these two locations so I was wondering which people found to be more enjoyable. I enjoy cultural experiences, local cuisine, nature hikes, and good museums. I know for Munich I can go see the Neuschwanstein (yes I had to google that for spelling) Castle, mountains to the south, or a quick trip to Salzburg. For Bern, I saw that I can float into Bern from Thun through the mountains and I can only imagine how incredible that experience is. Which did you enjoy more and what did you do there that you loved?

Thanks for any advice.

We love Munich and we love the Berner Oberland of Switzerland. Switzerland has so many outdoor opportunities like the river float you saw. Thun is beautiful and very very close to the Lauterbrunnen Valley which is the most beautiful place on earth (that I've ever seen). As much as I like Munich, I would hands down choose to spend my time in Switzerland. Head to the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the surrounding alpine villages of Murren, Gimmelwald and Wengen. Those villages are just jaw-dropping!

Both trips would be wonderful! You just need to decide what kind of trip you want to have!
Maybe the time of your you are traveling will make a difference? If you are going in spring or summer then Switzerland would get my vote. If you are going in fall or winter then the Munich trip would be easier - I love this area in cooler weather.
You say you like museums and Munich has one of the best...the Alte Pinakothek...one of the best collections in Europe IMHO.
That said, you can't beat Switzerland for it's amazing scenery.
If money is at all tight then Munich would be the better choice...Switzerland is quite expensive.

It is a fairly long swim from Thun to Bern.
