we will stay at the kempinski munich airport for two nights and plan to take the train into and back to central munich Should we buy day passes? We are seniors. Would a day pass include train to airport?
If there are 2 of you, a partner day ticket can be had for 20.40 euro. You must be traveling together at all times. Good for the entire MVV network which includes the airport.

Sam, Thanks for the info. That will be our plan Tom and Jeanne
A one-way ticket from the airport to downtown is 10,40€/pers, so you obviously save with a day ticket for just roundtrips for two, but the day ticket also gives you unlimited travel on all conveyances (u-bahn, s-bahn, buses, trams) in town as well. There is no senior discount. The price given above is valid until Dec 15, 2013, after which the price will be 21,30€.
Thanks Lee. Do you happen to know anything about the Munich City Tour Card? Since the train pass will also cover the transportation in the inner city, is the city tour card worth the cost? Thaks agin,
Tom
Given that the 3 day partner tour ticket is 53.90 and 2 days of partner tickets are 40.80, the 13.10 difference may make it worthwhile. All the benefits are in the 10% to 20% discount range or 1 to 3 euro off. So look at the benefits list and there is 5 or 6 things you really want to do, go for it.
Sam, I suspect that unlike Salzburg and Innsbruck where we will also stay a couple of nights and use their "Cards" the Munich City Tour Card is not worth the privce. Thanks for providing the discount range. Tom
