I have seen pictures of this open air "cabrio" cable car, and it looks really fun to ride, with great views at the top of the mountain. I haven't seen it mentioned here on the Forum. Is it worth a day trip from Lucerne? And- I think it's covered with the Swiss Travel Pass???
Thanks for all input.

Absolutely worth a trip, not just for open air cable car but also doing short hikes around the top, where you see all the surrounding mountains.
Pilatus is great and so is Mt. Rigi.
Thanks.
Been to Pilatus in Sept, and Rigi in December. For Rigi, it was a cloudy day that became spectacular when we got above the clouds and the tree line. We trekked in fresh snow and the bluest skies I have ever seen.
We are planning to go back to Rigi in September [hopefully] and will add Mt Stanserhorn, based on your feedback. Thanks again for taking the time to post.
Safe travels!
Hi Pat, you could also take the ride to Mt. Titlis, which is covered 50% with the Swiss Travel Pass. I haven't been to Lucerne yet, but when I watched a bunch of videos on the mountain excursions, Mt. Titlis was my favorite.
Carrie, I've been to Mt. Titlis , on a spectacular day, and even our RS guide was in awe of the view that day. We could see for miles! For a non-religious person, it was a "spiritual" experience for me.
I was just mystified the Stanserhorn has never been mentioned on this Forum [in my memory.]
Thanks for your input, and all of the other posts you have added to my research for this trip.
Safe travels!
Maybe I’ll see you there in Sept. We have 7 nights planned in Lucerne. My sister and her husband had a bunch of credit card points to use for Marriott. You’ll be able to pick us out as we’ll be the 3 Americans with the biggest smiles. 😊 We are so excited!!
