mp3 players- which one?

I am new to the mp3 players, and want to purchase one for our trip in September/october. I want to be able to store pictures, audiotours and possibly videos. Some reviews are good and others bad for the same player.. . it's all very confusing. How do you decide which one (beside price!!)

We (my son, oldest daughter, and I) bought the Sony Walkman MP3 players. I think iPods are handy, and they really have a lot of options for downloading things, but I was looking for an MP3 player without the proprietary software issues. We had trouble with my daughter's iPod (and then it broke after 3 months), because you can't just drag and drop music like you can with other brands.

I have 4 iPods, one of them for over 2 1/2 years. They are great in my opinion. The iPod Touch is fantastic because you can get online as well. But it does have it's issues I suppose. You can only use iTunes. Although I like iTunes because it is very user friendly. Anyway, I am a huge fan of them and would be glad to tell you more if you want to know.

I'd say iPod. Throughout the past 3.5 years, I'm now on my 4th ipod, usually selling off the previous model to get the new one and I've bought 5 others as gifts to family. They all love it. The user interface is very easy to use and I like the click wheel functionality.

Apple is making it a part in our everyday lives. Nike has developed a sport kit for the iPod nano, tracking your time, distance, pace, and calories burned. Car makers such as BMW, Mercedes are now offering on some of their models to integrate your ipod music library with the car stereo. And Podcasting (where audio content is delivered) is very popular. How many websites have you seen, where it says download our podcast? There's boomboxes, where u can mount your own ipod. There's alot of 3rd party software, accessories and support for the ipod.

With any product, there's always going to be good and bad reviews.

I have the ipod classic 80Gb, I got it so thati could store movies, photos and music on it while i travelled.

the only problem is that it doesnt accept the camera connector - so I would stay away from that one. I was so disapointed when i found out :(

I have the ipod touch, which is a more expensive mp3 player, but has a lot of benefits. It can connect to free wifi, so it has maps, weather and a lot of other applications right on the screen, you dont even have to search the internet for them. It also stores pictures and videos beautifully.

I purchased my iPod so I could so the same things you hope for, and it worked great; however, I've only owned it for 18 months and just recently started having trouble with it. I have taken really good care of the thing - never dropped it, scratched it, gotten it wet. I suspect it may be the battery is starting to die.

From everything I've read so far, iPod doesn't make a battery replacement a simple matter. To send it back to Apple to have a battery replaced will cost $100 (at this point, I may as well spend another $100 to $150 and get the latest iPod that stores more and just use the old one as a coaster!).

You may want to consider paying the extra $25 or $30 for an extended warranty if you purchase an iPod through a store like Best Buy or Circuit City.

Can't speak for any other brand as iPod was my first mp3 purchase.
