Most unusual thing you’ve done in Europe?

So, today I was asked to appear in a commercial for an Italian restaurant in the UK, I enthusiastically accepted. I received a £50 voucher as appreciation. I’ve got to admit that was never on my horizon, but that’s why I keep traveling!

The Hawk Walk at Ashford castle
Seeing snow on Mt Pilatus in August-a big deal since we get excited if we see snow in Jan! This happened on our first trip to Europe-who knew that some places have snow in August?

In 2006 we took our first tour of Italy. It was called "The Taste of Tuscany." Our guide told us she was taking us to visit her home in Gubbio. Little did we know her home was the Palazzo Ranghiasci. Our guide gave us a tour of the "noble floor" of her family palace and we were treated to a lovely lunch. It was an unexpected happening on our first trip to Italy. Unforgettable.

Talk to the falconer (Conan) who with his Harris Hawk (Harry, lol) was on pigeon patrol in the cloister at Canterbury Cathedral. My brother and I had gone back to see the stained glass in the cloister after we had a tour of the stained glass studio on a RS tour. We heard a jingle and saw the hawk swoop in and land on a piece of sculpture. Knowing his handler would be along soon, we just stood quietly and waited. The falconer graciously spent a few minutes talking with us before he and Harry headed out on their rounds again. We are birders and this was very cool!

Yes...they agreed to pose for a picture!
