Most Interesting Way to get to Istanbul

Which path would be the best way to get to Istanbul in your opinion. Not just directly seeing sights along the way.

Start in London-France-Germany-Czech Republic-Austria-Hungary-Romania-Bulgaria-Turkey-End in Istanbul

Or

Start In Lisbon-Spain-Italy-Slovenia-Croatia-Bosnia-Serbia-Bulgaria-Turkey-End In Istanbul

I plan on taking about 4 months. Starting In September. About $16,000 for the whole trip hopefully.

Route 1 -- there's more variety along the way.

I agree route one. I also suggest starting a little further north in Scotland if you can carve out the time. There's so much more to the UK than London--great as London is. Check into flights to Glasgow or Manchester.
