More days in Amsterdam or Copenhagen?

I will be doing a Baltic Cruise next May. I plan to go to Amsterdam first, cruise, then post cruise stay in Copenhagen. Which is a better plan? 3 full days in Amsterdam and 2 full days in Copenhagen or 2 full days in Amsterdam and 3 full days in Copenhagen

We made a similar choice this year. We chose to fly in and out of Copenhagen (and spend our extra days there) for a couple of reasons...... 1. It's a Baltics trip, why not spend it in the Baltics,....... 2. Flights to Amsterdam weren't any cheaper than Copenhagen (and Schipol seems to be a magnet for terrorists attempts right now),....... 3. Cruises from "London" or Amsterdam require extra days at sea to cover the extra distance. Essentially more vacation days without seeing anything extra....... 4. When I reviewed sites I wanted to visit, Copenhagen was the much better choice....... 5. Now that I've been to both, Copenhagen has a lot more to offer IMO than Amsterdam including castles, real beaches, excellent museums (A'dam museums were a big letdown from perhaps too high expectations for me). Copenhagen's parks also have significantly fewer syringes laying around - which I consider a plus......... I did change my plan to July/August because both Rick and a Copenhagen local suggested it's the best time to visit.

I am using mileage plan miles so flight cost will be the same. Just want to know if there is more must see in Amsterdam or Copenhagen. I am not a night life person but I like Museum and History and flea markets.

My recommendation would be Amsterdam. Better museums and sites overall (Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, Rembrandt House, etc.). More fun to walk around because of canals and the er, the other interesting areas. Copenhagen is cool but nowhere near as happening.

Amsterdam was great this summer. The people are friendly and as others have said there is lots to do. I'm ready to go back. I want to go to Copenhagen some day, but I think that there is more in Amsterdam. If your cruise is the Baltic then you may be ready for a bit of a change. ; ) Pam

Thanks everyone for your great advice. I changed my flight plan. Pre- Cruise will be 3 full days in Amsterdam, then I fly to Copenhagen for my 8 days Baltic Cruise. Pre-cruise is 2 full days in Copenhagen.
