The Rick Steves money belt ($12.95) says that the waist size is 36" expandable to 72". Both my wife and I have waist smaller than 36". Will the belt adjust to a smaller waist size? (I'm not bragging!) Peter MacRae

We are less than that. It is just a cloth strap and a buckle. I think you could adjust it to anything.

I have one and it definitely can be made smaller. It has an elastic strap that can be adjusted to make the belt smaller and any excess length can be trimmed down. I agree that the 36" to 72" could be confusng if you'd never seen the moneybelt, but it does not actually specify waist size ... just length of strap. Here is what the site says: •For Every Body: Its soft 3/4" wide elastic strap measures 36" and stretches comfortably to 72". It adjusts to your unique abdominal circumference. Its slim, strong buckle makes it easy to clip on and off.

It will work on smaller waists. I have a 25" waist. I usually cut the extra length off, after adjusting the fit.
