We don't plan to buy a converter but need money belts. Suggestions?
I hear some hotels my have converters? Has anyone experienced?
Any place that sells luggage, also sells money belts. Of course they can also be purchased on-line by hitting the "travel store" tab above. As a last resort they can also be purchased at the airport.
If you are going to be in the area of Edmonds, go to Rick Steves and buy one.
They have them, along with other travel accessories, at Metzger Maps downtown on First Ave, near the market, and also at REI.
You can buy money belts at any Target or Walmart, in the luggage department. For that matter, any department store that sells luggage probably has a travel accessories area that has them. As for converters - I'm guessing you mean plug adapters? If your electronics are dual voltage, all you need is an adapter so that your plug fits in their outlets. I wouldn't rely on the hotel to have one. They only have what others have left behind. Adapters are inexpensive - just buy a couple here before you go.
It is unlikely any hotels will have converters but some may have adapters. You can get adapters easily but converters will be difficult, especially as you leave so soon. What appliance do you need a converter for?
Wide World Books & Maps in Wallingford is another good travel store that sells these items. But I think you can find them closer to your home. Try The Savvy Traveler (at The Landing) in Renton.
Monique, To purchase Money Belts, here are some suggestions: > ETBD / Rick Steves (Edmonds) > The Savvy Traveller (Edmonds) > Bergman Luggage (three locations in Seattle) Regarding your question on "converters", some clarification might be in order. I've encountered some Hotels which have spare Plug Adapters but I've never seen any that had Voltage Converters. It would help if you could indicate why you need "converters". If you need Plug Adapters, I'd suggest buying a few at the same place you buy the Money Belt. Note that you'll need different Plug Adapters for the U.K. and continental Europe. Happy travels!
Monique... either one of the Fred Meyer stores in Renton will have money belts. Look in the luggage section. You can get a converter there also...never heard of a hotel either selling or loaning one.
Very true! REI is out one-stop shop for travel clothing and accessorites,, including luggage. Right now (thru Oct. 16) they are having a member's sale: 20% off a full-price item, and 30% off a clearance or sale item (making that an amazing deal if you can find what you want on sale.)
Amazon has cheap adapters (I think I paid less than $4). Mine is good for adapting to several types of plugs. Converters are more expensive but are
available. Most electronics (computers, etc) don't need converters but be sure to look. Money belts, as someone said, can be bought at Target in the luggage section.
Adapters are only $1.00 at the travel store on this site.
Why go to Target or, worse yet, WalMart, when you can buy from a locally-owned business like Metzgers Maps, or Wide World Books & Maps? Or Rick's store up in Edmonds, although a bit out of the way for you. Even REI and Freddy's are local (Portland for Freddy's).
REI has lots of cool travel stuff to spend your money on.
I have never not found any travel items I was looking for at RS Travel Store in Edmonds, or thru this web site. My wife did purchase me some ExOfficio clothing online tho.
AAA will also have them.
REI at Southcenter has a lot of small travel bags and accessories and I'm pretty sure they have money-belts and converters. Also, the Bergman Luggage store in Southcenter also has money belts and converters.
I think there's also a travel/luggage store at The Landing in Renton, I think they would have money-belts and converters.
i used a pacsafe coversafe 100 for cash, and something like the pacsafe coversafe 125 for debit/credit cards ... i got mine from an online retailer ...
