I have one and I have used it in Ireland, Spain, Finland, and the UK with absolutely no problems. If you intend to use it for long chats, it is expensive. But if you want the convenience of not having to buy new SIM cards for each country, or more minutes (what if you run out at an inconvenient time?), and you just intend to use it for brief calls or emergencies, it's great. You buy the phone, and never get charged another thing until you make a call. Your phone number is permanent, it doesn't change with the SIM card, and it's good in over 140 countries. And the calls are perfectly clear.

We have one and we like it because you only pay for what you use. Mind you, that's expensive per minute, but we only have it for emergencies and calling home to check on the cat etc so it works for us. It's not for chatty teenagers. Ours has a UK number. Don't know what else to say.

I have used mine in several European countries as well as in the US and have been impressed with the coverage. It seems to work well anywhere there is a cell signal.
