68,

i noticed that on google maps, you can click on the tube station and see what lines go through there and the lines will light up also.

if i remember correctly, Paris did the same thing.

happy trails.

I use the Paris Metro app by MX Data and it works great, they also have one for the London Tube.

You would need a data/internet connection for that feature to work.
If you're looking for something specific to the metro systems I use this:

For Paris, we used the "Visit Paris by Metro - RATP" app by the RATP. And for London, I purchased the "London Tube app" by Presslite for tube and buses.

I've been using the Paris Metro and London Tube app's from Presselite. Both have worked really well so far and I have no complaints.

On the other hand, the metro is a free paper in Switzerland as well as throughout the UK larger cities.

There is a metro app for tablets and phones, and iPhones which will get you the digital version of the paper complete with Sudoku, which is a good reason to get it.

Only mention it so you don't download it and instead of a Tube map you get a story about cats in France.

In Rome you are better off with a bus app because the 2 and a half metro lines are pretty limited in the area they cover. I have been very happy with Moovit, Probus Roma, Rome2Rio, and Roma Bus. They are all quite different and one or the other may be better in specific circumstances. They are all for iPhone 4s and above I believe.

We are users of PROBUS in Rome, which takes the feed from ATAC. As a back-up if PROBUS isn't working (nothing works 100% pf the time here), I use Muoversi a Roma. If that's down, well you guess, wait or walk. :-)
