Men in Kilts

Hello Everyone,
I’ve seen several threads recently regarding shows & books to help pass the time until we can travel again. Starz just recently released the first episode of Men in Kilts. The show follows 2 actors from the show Outlander as they trek across Scotland, particularly the Highlands. The first episode was entertaining and looks like it will be a good series. Hopefully it helps the travel woes.

There are a few episodes or related YouTube. Unrelated, other than involving kilts is the video of yoga in kilts. Flashes of more than in a yoga studio video 🤫

I am not an Outlander fan and watched the first episode last night. It was fun - and helps to fill a travel void. I honestly had no idea where these guys were from until they started showing all of the show bits. (Which I could do without.) To be fair, you could film a car following behind a garbage truck in Scotland and I would probably watch it.

Is Men in Kilts on Netflix or Amazon Prime? My hubby really liked Outlander
Thanks!

If you like Robert Burns, you might be interested in actor Sam Heughan's recitation of the poem Address to the Haggis that's on Starz's YouTube channel. It has subtitles, which is helpful with the Scottish words, not that I knew what they all meant! Here's the link.

I've just started listened to Clanlands audiobook - from these two. I'm not far into it but I've already laughed 4 times and the Scottish accents of Sam and Graham are lovely. I think it's a good companion if you like the show.

Like erodgreg above, I love to watch video of Scotland-- Graham McTavish and Sam Heughan (the hosts) are just an added benefit!

Probably mentioned elsewhere, but Staney Tucci's new show about eating in Italy on CNN is just glorious for us Italy lovers.

Nicole: loved Clanlands. I read the book when it was first released and found myself laughing a lot.

As for Tucci’s show about Italy, I’ll have to check it out. I love Italy, especially the food so anything involving the above, is my cup of tea!

The Tucci In Search of Italy schedule on our TV guide now indicates that the Florence/Tuscany installment is going to be Episode 6 in his series, broadcasting on CNN in March.

We’ve recorded the one Men In Kilts episode (indicated on the TV to be Episode 2 ?!?) but we haven’t watched it yet. Thanks for the reviews!

Amanda - I'd really recommend the audiobook if you can find it on a library app (or audible) - they both read their parts and they're so funny playing off of each other...(I also loved Diana Gabaldon's comment in the foreword about the appeal of a man in a kilt - hello!)

The Tucci show is EXCELLENT. It sort of fills the void Bourdain left. The content is thoughtful and insightful. Last night's show on Rome had a huge blow that left us so very sad. But then he finished with cacio e pepe - a good finale.

If you liked Men in Kilts (I watched the first two episodes and enjoyed them thoroughly), you may like Down to Earth with Zac Efron. It's a similar format-travel show with food-but adds tours of sustainable practices in countries. It's actually very good!
