What are the rules for bringing Xanax and other prescriptions?

Bring any prescription meds in the original bottles with your name on them. Bring enough for the whole trip, and pack in your carry-on bag instead of checking.

On 54 trips to EU. I've never had any problem with carrying meds. Just to be safe, take them in their prescription bottle.
Do some drug shopping in various countries. Example: last year I went into a pharmacy it Italy and asked for the price of Xanax . Pharmacist said it's free if you have a prescription, If you don't have a prescription, it's about 1/3 the USA price.
Hydrocortisone cream & diclofenac gel are about the same price for a tube as in USA but they are twice or three times more powerful
Again with no prescription, Xarelto is 1/4 the USA price in Italy.

I also take a photo of my cholesterol prescription and store it on the iCloud. (You could also e-mail it to yourself.). Just in case you accidentally lost the bottle or spilled the pills, you have your prescription info handy.
