I’m 79 and just got a quote of $104 from Allianz for the one trip medical option. It includes $250k for transportation home if needed. Not Medjet type evacuation but reasonable considering I’ll be in London and Paris. This quote seems too good to be true. Am I missing something?
There have been number of recent thrusts about his you might want to search for. About $100 sounds about right for a single trip. Annual plans might be somewhat more but not much...
This is for the One Trip Emergency Medical Plan. It doesn’t include trip cancellation reimbursement.
That is exactly what i paid for a 11 day trip for my 90 year old mom from Allianz. No cancellation, medical and evac, only.
Not too good to be true. I’m a bit younger 64 and my wife 57, got a year long Allianz policy with $50k medical expense and $500k evacuation for both of us, with some other coverages such as trip cancellation (limited amount) for $419.
Thank you all very much. I’ve not purchased this type insurance before and was surprised at the cost.
Are you sure that medical evac is to home? Per Allianz Medical only info:
Provides benefits for medically necessary transportation to the nearest hospital or appropriate facility following a covered illness or injury during your trip.
(Highlight was mine.) MedJet will transport you to the facility of your choice, hospital to hospital. It is more expensive when you're over 75 and you have to jump through pre-approvement hoops. You can look at what Air Med evac has to offer.
I was just reviewing my Allianz and MedJet policies since I leave Tuesday for Italy. I realized all the policy info is on my phone, so printed out copies for my technophobic husband and emergency bedside info for a friend.
PS As you probably know Medicare doesn't cover you outside of the US but your supplement plan might. My AARP/United Health Part F Supplement has a $50,000 lifetime international benefit.
