Is there a question? Yes, it will be a very long day. Can you do it? Its technically possible. Google maps, which usually underestimates travel times, says it will take 11 hours. This doesnt take into account traffic slow downs, accidents, road closures, road construction, bathroom breaks, gas fill ups or meals/snacks en route. Nor does it account for time spent at either location. To the 11 hours add 25% to the travel time, plus 1.5 hours at Mary's Bridge and at least 3 hours at Dachau. At the bare minimum that would be around 18.5 hours from the time you leave your accommodations til you return. Probably more. So, leave at 6 am and return at midnight or later.

That's going to be an extremely long and tiring day and wouldn't allow much time to see much either in Füssen or at Dachau. As a previous reply indicated, any delays in the trip due to roads, traffic issues or whatever will mean that you can't spend much time at either of the two locations you want to see. Are you not planning to also visit Neuschwanstein or Hohenschwangau while you're in the vicinity of Mary's Bridge?

In the same situation, I'd probably spend one or two nights in Münich, Füssen or other central location, and visit both sites from there before driving back to Italy.

Google Maps tells me that it is a 12 hour round trip with no stops. This is not a doable itinerary to me. If you leave at 6am (Marostica is in Italy, correct?), you will get to Mary's Bridge at around 11am. By the time you park, walk up, take your picture, take it all in, and walk back to your car, it will be about 1.5 hours. So that puts you back on the road at 12:30pm with a 3pm arrival to Dachau if all goes well. You will need to leave Dachau at 5pm and drive the 5+ hours back. This assumes that you eat meals in the car while you drive and that you fill up your tank really fast. Both of the places you want to visit are worthy for their own reasons, which is why an overnight stay near Dachau is a good idea.

It will be a long day. But I believe we can do it.

Is this meant to be an enjoyable vacation day or a 'see, we did it ( and survived)', kind of day.?

I concur with Cjean's analysis of an 18+ hr day. I wouldn't want to be in the car, or on the highway near you, during the last 2-3 hrs of the drive back.

I like to think we are being realistic and not negative. 🙂 And giving the response just in case this is an actual real life human being.

While I suspect your post was done with tongue firmly in cheek, I'll just argue that the plan was anything but a good one. I would hope that my post was simply a realistic one, with no negativity intended. If I had intended to be negative I would have said something along the lines of it being the most poorly thought out scheme I've seen in quite a while. But I didn't.

The once and done OP has not returned in 4 days for dialogue. Never asked a question.

The only statement they made was was "But I believe we can do it."

So to me all they want is validation that they have come up with a fabulous plan. No criticism expected.

Actually it is an awful plan as suggested by many.

Maybe they will be back with a different plan, maybe not.

But they have been warned.

Thank you for your advice. I have seen both places my son and grandchild have not. We are rethinking this plan. You are right we could see both and return exhausted. We may choose one over the other or stay the night and enjoy ourselves. Last time we lived in Italy, spent a week in Munich and casually enjoyed the sights. Son is paragliding through out Italy, so we have few days in-between to sightsee. I was just trying to fit it all in.
