I just learned that there is a "lift", the Barraka Lift", to spare cruise passengers the uphill walk from the cruise terminal into Valletta proper. Has anyone used this lift and if so, is it easy to find after disembarking?

It was easy from our ship last Oct. Just to the right. There are signs. We actually walked up and rode down after the four o'clock signal gun.

For some reason I was unable to post this question on a new thread. We will see Malta on our spring cruise and among other stops is Corfu. Just wondering if it will be possible to see it on our own or must we sign up for cruise excursion. Good to know about the lift into Malta.

Susan, if you google the port some info will come up as to what to do and how to do it. You can also go to cruisecritic.com and click onto the port. Our cruise will stop at Kerkira, Corfu (also known as Corfu Town) and I have been there before but will do some research as to what else to see.
