Looking for the best route to get from Maastricht, Netherlands to Munich Germany using public transportation. Cost is also a factor. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Look it up on the DB (German Railways) website: https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml
For a random date in November this is giving me many options, the one with the least number of changes is:
Maastricht dep 09:49, Liège-Guillemins arr 10:20
Liège-Guillemins dep 11:14, Frankfurt(Main)Hbf arr 13:30
Frankfurt(Main)Hbf dep 13:54, München Hbf arr 17:04
Note, times for next year (after 10th December 2017) have not yet been published.
Edit: Prices appear to start about €109. Book early for the cheapest fares.
I would not spend all that time on the train. Instead go to Eindhoven about an hour away and fly to Munich on Transavia for as lowa s 41euros; but what day?
Hi,
Instead of Frankfurt you can transfer in Köln to go direct to Munich. But you have to transfer in Liege first. That used to be called the Liege Gap. Köln Hbf to Munich is also a night route run by EN night trains, if you want that option. I took the night train a couple of times from Düsseldorf to the terminus, Munich.
Maybe FlixBus is an option, it's quite cheap compared to taking the train.
Hi all,
Thank you very much for the helpful responses! We would be travelling on Friday, November 17th. Bus would take too much time so I believe our best options would be Rail or Air.
Jazz+travels, have you flown Transavia?
Jazz+travels, have you flown Transavia?
Yes. It is a budget airline just like Easy Jet , Vueling, HOP etc. It is owned by KLM-Air France Group
You have to follow the bag allowance rules listed on the site, otherwise they charge you.
I managed to carry mine on 16lbs 22 inch
And when you checkin let the computer choose the seat for you otherwise they charge you.
You do not need much on such short flight takes 1 hour 15 minutes to Munich
