Luxembourg 3 nights/2 days. Too much time?

We decided to take a side trip to Luxembourg (staying in Luxembourg City) for 3 nights beginning of November before we head home from Paris. Reading through the boards, people don't seem too enchanted with the area except for the hiking (which we won't be doing in November) or during harvest season (we will just miss it.) We know transport is free and accessible. We also know the weather will be cold and possibly rainy (not a problem for us). Based on our schedule, is this too much time in Luxembourg? And do you have suggestions about what to add on for the 2nd full day? Or an alternative "wine" town that might be a better choice?

Arrival Day: Train from Bordeaux to Luxembourg, arriving in the late afternoon so will really only get settled, have a drink then head to dinner.
Full Day 1: tour around Luxembourg City, take a tour, visit the museums, etc.
Full Day 2: head to Moselle area for wine tasting (thinking of Remich as it seems easy to access) and then ?? we are not sure how to spend the rest of the 2nd full day.
Departure Day: Get up, eat, then head to early train in to Paris for 2 nights.

TIA!

We thought Luxembourg City was lovely. Will you be using public transportation to get to Moselle? Make sure to have reservations for wine tasting.

Things to do in Luxembourg:

  1. Take the train to Diekirch and visit the amazing WWII museum. After the Battle of the Bulge, farmers collected uniforms, weapons, vehicles, etc. left behind & stored everything in their barns. Eventually it was all put together in this museum. If you have any interest in WWII history you could easily spend hours here.
  2. Take the bus to the chateau in Clervaux where the famous Family of Man photos are on permanent display.
  3. Take a bus to Viandon and see the castle.
  4. If any of these trips have a train or bus change in Ettelbruck, take a stroll around this picturesque little town.

You can see that we loved Luxembourg.

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions! We will be using public transport (it's free and super accessible so why not?!) From my research, it seems that the castle/town up in Vianden takes a bit more than 2 hrs one way. Is there more to do there than the castle? I'm not interested in in 4-5hrs on transport just to see a castle. If it were a different time of year, we would add on some hikes, but November will most likely not be good hiking weather. Maybe there's more to do by the castle that I'm missing?

Thanks Jules! We were looking at this winery specifically. Glad to hear you enjoyed. Were there other things to do in the area before/after your winery visit?

When we went to Vianden it was one hour each way from Luxembourg City (30 min train + 30 min bus)- that was two years ago so not sure if it has changed? In addition to the castle it's just a charming area to walk around, eat lunch, etc. We were there in winter and it was very nice.
