We are taking a trip with our two kids, 7 and 9, to London and Paris. We are arriving in Paris via the Eurostar. We would like to travel lightly but we are unsure of the types of baggage compartments on the Eurostar. Are they similar to the airplane carry on compartments? What types of luggage have you used on the Eurostar without having to check in the bags?
Eurostar doesn't have a check-in baggage service. There are open racks above the seats for carry-on sized bags. Larger bags are stored in special racks at opposite ends of the carriages near the doors.
Rae - Yes there is overhead store on the Eurostar train cars. There is also baggage storage at the end of each train car. I believe there is a train diagram on Eurostar.com.
The majority of the trains we traveled on has luggage racks at the end of the car. We carried travel luggage cables and locked then in the luggage racks. No problems...very secure.

I just leave my luggage in the luggage areas,, the Eurostar doesn't stop anywhere so its not like people can hop off with your stuff.
Take whatever you can carry as you will carry and stow your own luggage.
