Luggage transfer options? US to EU or within EU

Hi,

We have a large piece of luggage that my son will need for school in Spain after he tours Europe (with his backpack) for a month. We are trying to figure out the best way to get his large suitcase to Spain.

I will be flying in to Denmark to join him for two weeks before his school starts. Options are 1. MyBaggage, ShipGo, or Luggage toShip from US to Spain, or 2. MyBaggage from Denmark to Spain.

It's cheaper for me to bring his suitcase to Denmark on my flight as a check in and then figure out how to send it from Denmark to Spain. But it will potentially take up several hours of our day in Copenhagen.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this situation and these companies? The US carriers (FedEx, DHL) are outrageously expensive. Thank you!

Tamara, Does it have to be one big piece of luggage? How about two moderate or medium sized ones (to be checked sizes. The kind we all used to use before the carry-on sizes became popular). Then you pay for the extra suitcases and maybe less in getting it to Spain. Will you be accompanying him to Spain? You could each have one as an extra piece of luggage.

Hi Judy - that's a great idea, except that we'll be schlepping around the Swiss Alps and other places for two weeks before we end up in Spain. Hence, the desire to send it straight to his dorm! He and I are traveling light - backpacks...

I used Send My Bag awhile back to ship a suitcase from the UK to the US. It was easy, efficient and took about 4 days.
