Luggage Rooms

Does anyone know if you are--in most cases--allowed to use your hotel's luggage room after check-out, but hours before departing the city (Paris)?

Yes you can use it for this purpose. I'd estimate that about half the luggage being held is by those guests who have checked-out.

I have never encountered a problem leaving my bag either before I'm allowed to check-in, or after I've checked-out of a hotel, B&B, guesthouse or hostel. It's a fairly common request from travellers.

That said, I have been to many smaller hotels that did not have a designated "luggage room". You can still leave your bag, but in these instances, it may be that your bag is just stashed over in a corner of the lobby - no guarantee anyone is actually watching it. Carry your important items with you in a daypack and use a luggage lock to secure your suitcase or bag that you leave behind.
