Hello,
My question has to do with luggage. Our last suitcase barely made it through our last trip to Italy. We need new. Recommendations please.
Thank you in advance.
It depends on what kind of suitcase you like, but Briggs & Riley makes suitcases that are very durable and probably would be handed down to your children, if you have any.
When we check luggage we use inexpensive soft-sided Delsey suitcases that we bought at TJ Maxx years ago. They have worn well. For carryons, we use soft-sided Samsonite bags.
Can you give us an idea of what you are looking for in a suitcase? Hard sided, soft sided, two wheels, spinner, check in or carry on?
How much are you willing to pay?
Was it a checked bag? Was weight or dimensions the problem. 50 lb is the weight limit, and I can't imagine why you need to pack more. Or are you talking about carry-on?. Both weight and dimensions vary by airline.
A medium sized piece of luggage. Not sure if I want hard sided or soft sided. Soft sided seems to be able to pack more. We usually check when we go for 2 to 3 weeks to Europe. But I don’t like a huge bag for trying to get around in the streets. I don’t wanna spend an arm and a leg in my first born child for a piece of luggage, but I want it to last more than one or two trips.
I have a Delsey soft sided set that I bought at Costco. It was fairly inexpensive and seems to hold up well. But if you can swing Briggs & Riley, with the lifetime warranty it’ll probably be the last bag you buy.
I have found TravelPro, to be a very good value.
Well constructed and while not the cheapest, far from the upper end of the cost spectrum.
I actually really like my Rick Steve's 21" rolling bag. I had one for many years and then the zipper finally died, so I bought another. They are very durable and I have had no issues at all. It gets a lot of use too!
Thanks for chiming in everyone. Headed to Amsterdam, Normandy area, and Paris again in April.
I agree with Joe re TravelPro. Their Maxlite international 2-wheeler is on sale if you're not picky about color. And if you are a member of Costco you can get them via CostcoNext.
Thank you!!
